Applying Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills to Organizational Decision Making

Here is What I Have Done

I compiled a comparative financial analysis that focused on two outstanding technology companies and created a report memorandum that provided insight into the strengths and weaknesses contributing to each company's success. I was expected to find credible data sites that provided insight into both companies’ financial reports. I created tables that compared both companies’ financial data and wrote in-depth paragraphs using data from extensive research. With the extensive research and data findings, I was required to answer questions that involve critical thinking and decision-making skills, to properly exhibit the overall financial standing of both companies within the report. 

 

Here is What it Means

This document was chosen because it demonstrates my ability to assess potential alternatives, form conclusions, and describe data using qualitative and quantitative methodologies.

I had to utilize critical thinking to organize data found and construct them in a manner that conveyed my point. This task challenged me to review large sums of data and determine key points necessary for constructing this document. I also had to use problem-solving skills to determine which company had a better financial standing, while also considering other outside factors that may affect the success measures in place. In order to create such conclusions, I did extensive research and knowledge from my business communications course. 

 

The intensity of this assignment showed me how much of a strategic thinker and taught me to how to differentiate credible sources from untrusted ones. It has also helped me learn more ways to organize large data quickly and efficiently. This document required an exceptional amount of critical thinking skills when it comes to organizing, analyzing, and communicating information and have provided me with knowledge on the importance of understanding and utilizing these skills.  I am not able to use these tools and apply it to a variety of situations in which data must be examined or compiled.

 

Here is Where it Leads Me

My career path requires me to think strategically about how to convey the brand's message so it is important that I grasped this skill through my course work. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are important for a company to make good decisions. These decisions affect the success of a company as a whole, so my employer will expect me to know how to conduct proper research that provides necessary information for decision-making. By attaining these skills, I will be able to play a large role in the decision process of a company by applying analytical processes to the goal at hand.
